JOY AND HAPPINESS COLLECTION

Jaeyong Cho and Hyunji Kim are a doctor couple who tied the knot in 1998. When the couple was disheartened to find out they cannot have a baby, they encountered a work by Zeng Fanzhi titled The Christ Child and stood in tears. Captivated by the powerful emotional interaction with the artwork, they became passionate art collectors thenceforth. Every artwork the couple has collected was welcomed to their home as a new member of their family. Jaeyong and Hyunji have collected over 100 artworks for the past 15 years, widely spanning from Korean Dansaekhwa to international bluechip and ultra-contemporary artists. In 2020, the couple decided to build their new home as a private museum, dedicated to to exhibit their phenomenal art collection. The endearing nickname for their collection is Joy and Happiness Collection, standing for Jaeyong and Hyunji respectively. Cho and Kim Collection is every step and turn a surprise, and a living collection that continues to evolve and be filled with joy and happiness. The couple's art of living inspires and uplifts the lives of many in Daegu and beyond.

MOMENTS OF COLLECTING

Art collecting is not only about art. It is also about people you encounter, laughters you share, and moments you treasure forever. Art collecting is a journey not a destination for Jaeyong and Hyunji. The inseparable couple is the embodiment of collectors who love spending time with artists, gallerists, and collectors alike. They are tremendously generous and openhearted hosts of a myriad of networking and socializing art events. Thanks to the couple’s patronage and hospitality, the art scene and market in South Korea is ever more burgeoning with passion and warmth. You will always spot Jaeyong and Hyunji living, loving, and laughing to their fullest, surrounded by beloved art world friends. Every moment of collecting overflows with joy and happiness for Jaeyong and Hyunji.
